Modelling Captain America - Torso and Arms

To start off with modeling Captain America, I decided it would be best if I built one half of the body and then mirror it over so that the sides would be almost identical. I could then alter little parts of the sides later. I also decided that it would be beneficial if I was to include the star in the center of the chest in the model and not just as a texture.

I modeled the torso first. It started off as a simple cylinder which I stretched vertically to get the right height of the torso. I then used the add edge loop tool to fill the cylinder with loads of edge loops. These were then stretched horizontally in order to create the shape and muscle structure of the torso. Overall I am really happy with the end shape of my torso as I feel like it looks bulky and the type of body shape that Captain America would have.

After modeling the torso I focussed on designing the arm. I started the arm by moving the vertexes at the shoulder region into a decent oval shape. Then I used the extrude tool to extrude the oval out to make the upper part of the arm. I changed the size and extruded multiple times to help make the inner arm/elbow and then the top of the glove. The hand was made by creating a square block and then extruding out some square fingers and thumb. I then used the smooth tool to round off the hand and fingers to give them a more realistic look. I am quite happy with how the arm turned out though I wish the gap between the glove bit and the hand looked more joined.
